Abstract

The purpose of this study was to manufacture nanoparticle containing chlorhexidine by using the Eudragit polymer, which are Eudragit RS, Eudragit RS/E, Eudragit RS/RL,
Eudragit RS/S, Eudragit RL, and Eudragit RL/E, and to evaluate the rate of elution of chlorhexidine.

The results were as follows:
1. Nanoparticles containing chlorhexidine were successfully manufactured by precipitation method.
2. These was no difference in the process of manufacture between nanoparticle containing chlorhexidine and blank nanoparticle.
3. After 60 minutes, the rate elution of standard chlorhexidine was about 90£¥, but that of nanoparticle containing chlorhexidine was about 60£¥. They showed statistically significant difference.
4. The rate of the elution was not greatly affected by the kind of polymer.
